Problem
A resume answers the questions its author thought of. Recruiters ask others. In Ed Donner’s courses we built a “digital twin” chatbot that answers questions about you in your own voice. I wanted to find out what it takes to turn that into something other people can sign up for and use.
What I built
- Sign up, upload a resume and get a public page at
mypersona-forge.com/<your-name>. - Visitors chat with your twin, which answers only from what’s in your profile, using streaming and tool calling on the OpenAI Responses API.
- When someone asks something the profile doesn’t cover, you get an email so you can decide whether to add it.
- Recruiter contact details left in the chat are forwarded to you.
- A private set of common recruiter questions (hardest project, why you’re looking) that the twin uses but never shows on your page.
Built on React and TypeScript, with Cloudflare Workers and D1 for the API and database, Clerk for auth and Resend for email. This was my capstone for Ed Donner’s AI Engineer Production Track.
What’s next
I shipped early on purpose, and I’d rather be upfront about the gaps: background work (emails, follow-up model calls) still runs on the request instead of a queue, and testing has been manual. Next up:
- Moving background work onto queues.
- Downloadable resumes tailored to a specific job description.
- An MCP server, behind API keys, that lets a recruiter’s agent find the best-matching candidates.
- An automated test suite and more polish.
