RSSJobHunter + ESP32 pager

An agent that scores new job postings against my resume, writes tailored resumes for strong matches, and lights up a physical pager.

Problem

Job hunting is mostly triage: open a posting, find the real description, decide whether it fits, then rewrite resume bullets for the ones that do. It’s tedious, repetitive work, which is exactly what an agent should do.

What I built

  • Watches RSS feeds from job boards. For every new posting, an LLM extracts the job description and the application link, scores it against my resume the way an ATS would, and writes up why it is or isn’t a fit.
  • Anything above my threshold gets an auto-generated, tailored resume PDF.
  • Runs as a PyQt6 desktop dashboard or headless in the background, and sends a Pushover notification when a strong match lands.
  • The pager: an ESP32 board that lights up over MQTT when a strong match comes in, so I don’t need the app open. It’s where my firmware background and the AI work meet.

It started as my capstone for Ed Donner’s agentic AI engineering course, and I now use it every day. The repo has the agent, the Arduino sketch and setup instructions.
